Disclosure

Affiliate disclosure

This page explains how the site is funded, in the plainest terms we can manage. It is written to be understood, not to be tolerated.

The short version

SoloScaleLab earns money through affiliate programs. If you click a link to a product and then buy a subscription, the vendor may pay us a commission. You pay the same price you would pay going to the vendor directly.

That is the entire revenue model at the moment. We do not sell display advertising, sponsored posts, or paid placements.

How affiliate links are marked

A link that earns a commission carries rel="sponsored" in the markup, and any page containing one shows a disclosure near the top of the body. Where a product link does not earn a commission — for example, because we have not been approved for that program — it is a plain link to the vendor's official site with no tracking.

We do not invent tracking links. If a program has not approved us, the site says so, and the link goes to the public website.

Current program status

Status as of today

No affiliate program is currently active on this site. Every product link you see today is a plain link to the vendor's website, and the site earns nothing from them. This section updates itself from the partner registry, so it cannot drift out of date.

What commissions do not buy

  • A better verdict. A product with a high commission and a bad free tier is still a bad free tier.
  • A place on a shortlist. Shortlists are built from criteria, then checked against commission bias.
  • Silence about drawbacks. Every review has a "what doesn't work" section, and it is not optional.
  • Removal of a criticism. Vendors can correct a fact; they cannot edit a conclusion.

If a link is broken or mislabelled

Tell us. A mislabelled affiliate link is a serious error on a site like this, and it gets fixed the same day it is reported. Contact page.

Where this sits in law

Disclosure of paid links is required in the markets this site serves — for example by the US Federal Trade Commission's endorsement guides, the UK Competition and Markets Authority, and Canada's Competition Bureau. This page is written to meet those expectations, but it is not legal advice. [TODO: have a qualified adviser review this page for your jurisdiction before launch]
